Teaching for Transformation (TfT) is the framework that guides how we teach, how students learn, and how faith becomes the foundation of every classroom experience.
TfT helps students see that every subject, every moment, and every relationship is an opportunity to grow in wisdom, build healthy relationships, and serve our community, because every student is an image bearer of God.
What Is Teaching for Transformation?
Teaching for Transformation is a Christian learning model built around one central idea:
- Students learn best when they understand how their daily work connects to God’s bigger story.
Through TfT, teachers design learning experiences that help students:
- Recognize God’s truth in every subject
- Practice real‑world skills with purpose
- Build habits that reflect Christlike character
- See themselves as active participants in God’s redemptive work
TfT is not an add‑on it is woven into the culture, curriculum, and relationships at King’s Academy.
The Three Core Practices of TfT
Storyline: Every classroom develops a Storyline, a simple phrase that captures how students will live out God’s truth in their learning. Storylines help students connect academic work to spiritual formation.
Examples include:
- “Created to Create”
- “Seek Truth, Show Grace”
- “Love God, Love Others”
Students revisit their Storyline throughout the year, applying it to projects, discussions, and daily choices.
Throughlines: Throughlines describe the kind of Christlike character we want students to develop. They are habits of living that help students understand who God calls them to be.
Some Throughlines include:
- Justice Seekers
- Servant Workers
- Creation Enjoyers
- Community Builders
Throughlines appear in lessons, projects, service opportunities, and conversations helping students connect faith to action.
Formational Learning Experiences (FLEx): FLEx experiences invite students to practice their faith in real ways. These are hands‑on, meaningful opportunities where students step into authentic work that blesses others.
Examples include:
- Serving local ministries
- Creating art that communicates truth
- Leading worship
- Designing solutions to real community needs
FLEx helps students understand that they don’t have to wait until adulthood to be effective for the Lord, they can serve right now.
