Established in 1979
King’s Academy (formerly St. Cloud Christian School) has been educating children in central Minnesota for more than 45 years. From the beginning, our mission has been clear: to partner with families in the Christ-centered education of their children and to teach every subject through the truth of God’s Word. Our teachers and staff view their work as ministry, dedicating their lives to helping students grow in wisdom, character, and faith.
Our story began in 1979, when four families, following the Lord’s leading, established a Christian school in the St. Cloud community. The school opened its doors as King’s Academy of St. Cloud with just seven students and two faithful teachers. Throughout the next decade, enrollment steadily grew as the school served families as a K–8 program. In time, the school adopted a new name, becoming St. Cloud Christian School, a name many in the community came to know and love.
In 1999, the Board of Directors expanded the vision by adding a high school, allowing us to offer a complete K–12 education. The school also strengthened its academic foundation by earning accreditation through the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). As enrollment increased, the school operated across multiple campuses until 2003, when God provided the opportunity to purchase a retired school building on the east side of St. Cloud, a home that served our students and families for more than two decades.
In 2024, sensing God’s continued leading and recognizing the need for more space to support our growing student body, school leadership began exploring options for a new campus. After much prayer and discernment, the school purchased the former Crafts Direct building in Waite Park. Over the past year, this facility has been transformed through extensive renovations and remodeling. In the fall of 2026, we will open the doors to our new home, returning to our original name, King’s Academy, as we step boldly into this next chapter.
Today, King’s Academy enrolls more than 200 students representing 16 communities and over 35 churches. We have welcomed students from around the world, and our graduates have gone on to pursue a wide variety of callings: college, missions, trades, military service, and even teaching at King’s Academy. Each story is unique, and each reflects God’s work in the lives of our students.
Through every season of growth and change, one truth has remained constant: God has been faithful. We continue to trust Him as we prepare the next generation of students to love God, love others, and pursue excellence in all they do.
